      I’ll be honest and say that I wouldn’t have guessed that’s what Daisy was after. I’m really clueless. Apparently people flirt with me often? I have yet to see evidence of it, but I’ve been told it happens pretty regularly. Still trying to figure out what I’m supposed to be looking for, but I still don’t see it.

      I’m honestly the sort of person who loves telling stories and demonstrating them, so kissy times wouldn’t even remotely be on my radar as the intended outcome.

      If you (or anybody) have suggestions for figuring these things out, please enlighten me! I’m a grad student and seriously still this oblivious.

        I’ll chime in and agree, I don’t think Daisy was asking her to recount the incident, in the hopes of getting a kiss, especially since she already noted that the original incident was pretty legitious. I don’t think she’s ever seriously “considered” Billie in this way either herself. Just on finding herself caught between a hard place and a Billie, … add your own double entendre here.

        I wasn’t thinking of this conversation in particular, but previous conversations where Daisy has dropped very heavy hints that she’s a) a lesbian, and b) desperate. Though on review of Daisy’s prior appearances, it seems that Billie wasn’t actually there for some of those – including the one where Dorothy just straight-up says that Daisy desperately needs a girlfriend. But she’s still dropped enough hints in Billie’s presence that, if I were Billie, I wouldn’t have gone in for the kiss on Daisy like that unless I were really going in for the kiss, ’cause Daisy’s pretty obviously jonesing for some girl-loving, and going to grasp at any bait dangled her way.

          You’d still avoid grabbing at bait you just described as liable to Result in Legal Action. I don’t think was Jonesing for some Billie until the Fourth panel, when she got caught up in it.

          Daisy’s only notable character trait so far is that she’s seriously jonesing for any girl she can get. I just don’t think she had any idea that Billie was a girl she could potentially get until Billie pushed her up against a wall and leaned in for a kiss.

          And, really, forget Daisy’s orientation and desperation. I wouldn’t get that close to kissing anyone unless I was okay with actually kissing them.

          As for Legal Action… the situations are totally different, and there’s a big difference between being the kisser and being the kissee anyway.

    OK, had to go back and look through Billie’s previous interactions with Daisy. While it was obvious to the reader (and to Dorothy) that Daisy is into girls, the hints that were dropped in Billie’s presence were subtle enough that someone who is obtuse about those sorts of things, or in denial, could easily miss them.

    After reading through the Walkyverse, I find it interesting how much of an impact Ruth is poised to have on Billie’s life. In the Walkyverse, Ruth’s death had a massive impact on Billie. It got her to stop drinking, look at what she wants to do with her life, and even got her to connect with Danny, who she would eventually marry. Now, I’m not sure if making Billie realize that she’s homo, bi, or pansexual quite ranks up there with all of that, but it is a big deal. It seems that, no matter what universe they’re in, there’s going to be some sort of deeper connection between Ruth and Billie.

    Only peripherally related to the strip at hand, I know, but I only recently finished plowing through the Walkyverse and Shortpacked.

    I just realized…. Billy is about a full foot shorter than daisy. Daisy’s must be getting a little weak-kneed there.

    That said, I predict shall endeavor to predict the future!
    Daisy will run the story about Ruth, getting Ruth in a lot of trouble. Billy, who no longer seems to want revenge towards Ruth will feel terrible, but Ruth will be too upset to listen to anything Billy has to say. 500 or so comics later they will hook up.
