    I hope this ends well.

    But I feel like it’s too early in the new story arc for happy endings. Last arc was about the Evil Dads and Amazi-girl. We don’t know what the antagonist for this book will be yet, though the emerging theme is “people change, but friends don’t want to let them.” Which is a fine theme but doesn’t quite seem like enough. I feel like there’s at least one more shoe left to fall.

    And that should happen right as this cute budding romance hits the “complication” stage. When things that were going well start going horribly wrong.

      20 bucks says it’s Dorothy. She’s overall a good person, but…

      -Has major anxiety issues when she feels like she’s not in control of things she cares about.
      -Cares about Joyce. A lot.
      -Has a tendency towards logical but rigid thinking, and is just prideful enough to resist efforts to change her mind once she’s made a decision.
      -Knew Joe at his worst and long ago settled her opinion of him as an irredeemable playboy.

      She’s gonna pressure them both to end this for Joyce’s “own good”. And as that fails to work, is going to double down until her anxiety triggers a meltdown.

      Only question is if said meltdown comes before or AFTER Joyce has enough of it and snaps at her. Either way, Dorothy’s gonna feel miserable and powerless. And that’s gonna suck to watch, not gonna lie.

    Them being at the stage where Joyce is able to start to voice her desires (bit by bit) but not actually act on them, is going to be INCREDIBLY HOT for Joe (who is worried about going too fast and potentially Ruining Things with sex). Hopefully it will also be a place where Joyce is a little scared but in an exciting way, like lining up for the rollercoaster. She’s not ready to go on the rollercoaster yet, but just standing in line together with Joe is part of the thrill. Standing in line holding hands, talking about how going on the rollercoaster together could be fun, but if they get to the front of the line and Joyce is still scared, they’ll go get cotton candy instead and get back to the rollercoaster some other time. No rush. The rollercoaster will always be there. The Ferris wheel is also nice.

      Yes, that’s why I think these two are perfect (at least right here, right now. I don’t really know enough about each other’s long-term relationship goals to know if they’ll really be a good match for each other long term) for each other. Joe’s unfamiliarity with emotional connection in relationships dovetails nicely with Joyce’s unfamiliarity with sexual intimacy because it means that both of them will be nervous newbies learning together, but with both of them possessing knowledge that the other lacks to help guide each other on their mutual discovery.

    There’s only two things that can impede it:
    – Joyce’s fear, because her fundamentalist past. But she looks more eager to that than Liz, so the risk she got afraid is fewer.
    – Whatever bomb Dorothy are bringing to them.

    First of all, that’s not a complaing to the webcomic:
    The weirdest part of DoA pace is that I already have thought and imaginated ALL of possibilites that could happen from now:
    – Joe and Joyce starts dating in this storyline;
    – They only in next;
    – They never date;
    – They have sex right after first kiss;
    – Dorothy blows up everthing
    – Somebody tries to seduce Joyce;
    – Somebody dies
    – Walky return to Dorothy, Walky seduces Joe, new character…

    The speed of the history have drained all my daydreaming, I don’t have anymore possibilty to imaginate.
    Obs: I was thinking in this strip while I’m written this text.
