I was a MiB for SJG several years ago. I made special cards (illustrated by John Kovalic) for Chez Geek which added more explicit adult items, activities, etc. into the game. I’d run at cons later in the evening (with a disclaimer and content warning) under the name “Chez Freak.”
I’ve been considering breaking out my copy for the local dungeon’s “Kinky Geek Night.”
For those curious, Dominion is the first deck-building card game. (Basically like Magic: the Gathering but without the collectible aspect and tiered rarities. Also it’s real-time. We are all building a deck RIGHT NOW to win before any other player can.) There are now many expansions for Dominion: the link below is only to the original. FWIW, I rate Dominion a “10” on Boardgame Geek. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36218/dominion
Munchkin is the rules-exploity aspect of RPGs, but in PvP card game format. The original is fantasy/D&D themed, but they have many varieties, Sci-Fi, Kung Fu, Superhero etcetera etcetera. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1927/munchkin
“Munchkin is the rules-exploity aspect of RPGs, but in PvP card game format.”
Nah, if it was like powergaming and rules-lawyering, your decisions would have some influence on the outcome of the game. Munchkin has only slightly more relevant player decision-making than Candyland. It’s about as much fun as rules-lawyering, though, which is to say not much fun at all.
Fluxx is an acceptable substitute if Munchkin is not available.
Touchfuzzy
Honestly, in most board game circles, Munchkin and Fluxx are not seen in a positive light.
Touchfuzzy
Its the board gamers version of pretentiousness. (though to be honest, I’m not a fan of either myself, though I don’t sneer at them and will play them if other people want to. Ok, I sneer a bit at Munchkin cause its too long for what it is).
Deanatay
True. REAL nerds would play Epic Spell Wars of The Battle Wizards: Duel At Mt. Skullzfyre.
(Yes, this is a real card game.)
Or, Love Letter.
Touchfuzzy
Love Letter is a really solid small card game.
I would probably go like, Marvel Legendary or the DC Deckbuilder for Amber though. They are also coming out with TMNT Dice Masters soon! I know Shortpacked Amber was a TMNT fan, don’t think its been referenced in DoA though.
Rich
There’s second boxed set out for Epic Spell Wars, you know. “Rumble At Castle Tentakill” Standalone but compatible with Skullzfyre, pretty much more of the same with some new variations.
Havtorn
Munchkin I get. I’ve never heard anyone sneer at Fluxx, though, without without essentially saying “I think all games need deep strategy”.
Touchfuzzy
Its mostly that it is super random. I don’t like it much, but I’ll play it, its fairly short and it can be funny, so its not a complete waste of time. But I would rather play something that had more thought for the amount of time, or something that is just completely party game like But Wait, There’s More! or even Cards Against Humanity.
Touchfuzzy
And this is of course, just commentary on my own enjoyment of the game. I would never poopoo a game that someone was having fun playing. Even if it isn’t something I like much.
Touchfuzzy
don’t* like much

To be fair, most cardgames in that class (ie light opener/closer games) tend toward the high randomness. Fluxx, Munchkin, Give Me the Brain, et al are the games you play while you wait for everyone to show up or for something to do while actually socializing because there are no meaningful stakes.
podian
Dunno about Fluxx, but my experience is that everybody loves Munchkin.
I ship this now and the ship’s callsign is the S.S. Hatefuck.
Captain Batson
It’s the most epic ship in its class.
JustCheetoDust
That’s a great idea. But I like to think he would release teaser panels of such a thing, claim the work is a commission that will never be publicly released yet is still canon, and then soak in the anguish expressed in the comments section.
Aaaaarg, FOOOL, have you not learned to never speek of any such awful schemes such as the one mentioned inside the walls of the unmerciful lord of despair who listning in on new heartless tings to subject the poor people of willistown to? (Runs around in circle mcduck style)
I’m thinking more like those old Looney Toons shorts with the sheepdog and the wolf. They pass eachother at the punch-clock and it’s like “Morning, Sal”, “Morning, Amber”…
Sal walks out front door (confirmed by looking at previous comic), Then Amber walks in same door minute or 2 later? Possibly how it worked; Sal walks out, walks down hall 1 way, goes around corner SAME MOMENT Amber turns/enters hall, Amber heads to room none the wiser, cast matrix-dodges drama bomb…

then Amber sees AtA and says, “Dangit, peeps, can’t we play a REAL card game, like Dominion or 6 nimmt?”
Jen Aside
then Billie is all, “shit, lost my chance to actually maybe not ostracize myself but look like it’s someone else’s idea and I’m just being helpful”

Amber: “MUNCHKINS OR GTFO”
Rich
One of the Chez Wahtever games would work just as well.
Jen Aside
I’d say “Machine of Death” doesn’t get enough love but IDK it’d work with a huge group

Munchkin for the win! Though… when you imagine a game of Munchkin in Willis’s world of drama…

“Oh, but, with the exception of Danny and Ethan, you’re all newbs. Huh. Maybe I should be merciful!”
Rorror
I’m currently trying to figure out, how english-speaking people would pronounce 6 nimmt, and it’s hilarious.
Deanatay
The game was released in America as ‘Category 5’. Does that count as pronouncing it properly?
Rorror
No, it doesn’t. Also, whose idea was that? How does that name relate to the gameplay? Or any other aspect of the game?
Jen Aside
haha looks like Ruth’s arguing with herself
[I heard it was “Take 5” but ok]
dmaxx
And the faaaces are even in the right direction xD
Rorror
No, mine is in the left direction. (=

There’s pigeons down on Market Square/She’s standing in her underwear…
Mr. Random
If you get six red cards, you level up and get to use Cards Against Humanity.
otusasio451
That is a fantastic variation on the game. I might use that, if you don’t mind.
Solenoid
Addendum: Once you’ve leveled up, you draw the black cards when it’s your turn to choose a round winner.
Safgaftsa
Green cards.
Opus the Poet
But what if you’re a citizen already and don’t need a green card? 😛
Dave O
When you level up, you get deported. Raises the stakes!
DarkoNeko
Ha ! We all called on this one 😀
DarkoNeko
Hello Amber ! Since you didn’t cross Sal in the hallway I’m guessing she went back to her room before heading out. (or went out her window altogether)
Kris
Actually they probably had a really badass fight that was like 5 splash pages long we missed.
Safgaftsa
Willis will release it as one of those “optional, canonical but not at all relevant to the rest of the story” things.
Justin
You mean a Slipshine? Because it probably wasn’t that sort of fight.
DarkoNeko
Oh my !

Sal leaves as Amber enters. Drama avoided………for now. -_-
DarkoNeko
Amber is secretly Sal.
JessWitt
Everybody is each other!
Rich
I am Spartacus!
podian
Wait, but if Amber is secretly Sal, and Amazi-Girl fought with Sal, then Amber can’t be Amazi-Girl!
We must dig deeper…
Deanatay
Actually, Amber has plenty of psychological conflict going on in her skull. I can easily see her fighting her alter-ego.
Heck, Amber may be Amazi-Girl’s nemesis.
Marc in MN
Ha! Yeah, that was kind of a Superman/Clark Kent level of timing there.
Jason
Which is too bad … for us, anyway. Dammit.
BenRG
I suddenly saw Amber and Sal passing eachother in the corridor and doing a tag in/tag out move.

I’m thinking more like those old Looney Toons shorts with the sheepdog and the wolf. They pass eachother at the punch-clock and it’s like “Morning, Sal”, “Morning, Amber”…

Rich
Sal probably went to her room and exited through the window.
Lurlock
Couldn’t Sal just leave through the shared bathroom? Then she’d never have run into Amber coming in the front door.
Screwball
Well she definitely left via the highly decorated front door. And it’s also clear Amber came in the front door, so that’s my guess…
..Mind you, Sal could come back in cause she forgot something, then it’ll be drama-bombs-away…
EEWWW
or Amber is waiting around the corner for Sal to leave… then ‘Amazi’ingly sneaks down hall to the party.

Ain’t no party like a Joyce Brown party ’cause once the drama starts it don’t stop
It don’t stop
