      If it was in Jamaica, he would be of drinking age since he is a living human. Yeah, no laws at all concerning age as of the late 90s. Was rather surreal to see how much was purchased by a group of teenagers.

    I’m confused…. why is Joyce so surprised Joe was drinking? She didn’t seem too surprised people were drinking when she went to that party.

    Is there a correct way to deliver that “are”? Because I keep reading it in a breathy porno-actress voice and hitting the consonants too hard, like as soon as she’s done saying it she’ll go “And you need to be punished.”

    That’s not Joyce. Not yet.

      Yes that is correct. However, as a 21st century English speaker, especially in American comics, It is rare to see “you are” rather than “You’re” and it’s also rare for someone to phrase it like that, unless they are putting emphesis on either “you” or “are”.

      Try reading it like a line from the script of a poorly-written “just say no” skit from the 90s.

      Don’t get me wrong, I like Joe’s punchline, but honestly, Joyce not using contractions is the funniest part of the strip to me. I find it utterly hilarious.

    I’m shocked, SHOCKED (!) to find that underage drinking occurs at college! How much else, out of everything what I’ve been told all my life, is wrong? Is the earth not 6000 years old? Do babies not come from storks? Does God play dice with the universe?

      In answer to your questions:

      1. 62%, give or take.
      2. It is, and then some. It stopped counting after the first billion years, though.
      3. Some babies do. Stork babies, for instance.
      4. They used to, but the universe kept insisting that God’s dice weren’t perfectly random, and, well, yeah, it’s a bit of a sore point with both of them.

        I heard that the big throwdown was when, after the game, God was heard going around telling people about how he had loaded the dice. After that was when the Universe refused to play with him anymore.

    Ah, I remember when I was shocked and appalled to find out that a few of my classmates had tried smoking and drinking.

    It was in middle school.

    If you look at panel 2 long enough you can imagine that you’re in a crazy inverted universe where Walky is getting more action than Joe.

    One would think that Joyce wouldn’t be all that shocked by the things that Joe gets into by now. I mean, he’s already got a sex tape with a politician’s relative out on the internet. A little drinking doesn’t really feel that shocking in comparison.
