Pfft. I have heard this conversation so many times, even participated in a few. There’s something that’s really funny about getting to use “that’s gay” when you’re LGBT+.
True story: my mum discovered that my uncle and his long-term partner were gay rather than just very good friends who had a flat together, holidayed together, etc, when they announced they were getting married… The rest of us had figured it out a good decade or so earlier but kinda figured they’d tell us if, when and how they wanted to, no big deal.
My mum also only realised that me and the now-husband had sexy times together about 3 years into us sharing a one-bed flat, mind… Yet she assumed my baby sister was sleeping around when she was about 15 because she wears make-up. But also complains that I should wear make-up more often…
My mum means well but sometimes her logic and other people’s logic really do not align. At all. On any plane that mathematicians, quantum mechanics or other physicists have yet to hypothesise.
I dunno if Billie will hold up her end of this relationship, and aside from that they could break up and go their separate ways for any number of reasons, but I’d say Ruth is growing from the experience. I’ll give Billie credit for trying and paying a down payment.
