I maintain that there is no better feeling in the world than waking up thinking you have work or school, then realizing it’s a weekend/holiday and you can just roll over and go back to sleep.
nope. noooooope. everytime when i have those, my heart rate skyrocks when i wake up, and when i realize i dont have to go ,i am way to shaken to get to sleep again. do not like that at all.
When we were young, my sister used to specifically request that she be woken up “on time” if there was a school delay or closure. She wanted to be able to think, “Ah, yes, I get to go back to sleep” and curl back under the blankets.
Maybe its when you get older it feels bad, my weekend off work just ended & I spent one of the days doing nothing but SLEEP & I just felt horrible afterwards.
I appreciate this nice, slow start to everyone’s day. No drama, no waking up and immediately worrying about some new nonsense, just characters waking up and getting ready for their day.
It feels fucking fantastic, which is why sometimes when I’m depressed I sleep in all day because then I don’t have to deal with the world or even get out of bed
this is the thing with a lot of “depressed person things” and people mistake going easy on yourself for a bit for a particular symptom
it’s not like taking a day off work means you have the flu but you’re probably gonna do that if you have the flu
“My mind spun for a second before it drifted, and in that second I knew that of all pleasures—a drink of cold water when you are thirsty, liquor when you are not, sex, a cigarette after many days without one—there is none of them can compare with sleep. Sleep is best. . . .”
It kinda looks like Tony’s room is the exact opposite in energy of Ruth’s room. Like the inverse of her room. The other side of the coin. I hope people get what I’m talking about. Try to find a strip in Ruth’s room. You’ll see.
This closely resembles my recent covid experience. I was sleeping in all day because I was too fatigued from being sick to do much else but it was ducking dantastic
I think it’s more when you’re a kid you can pull an all nighter and be just fine the next day. That goes away so so fast ?
Nymph
Again, not by 20 surely? I have lifelong devastating insomnia, so I’ll admit I don’t know for sure what average people’s sleep is like in their 20s, but I feel like that kind of struggle happens a long while after 20.
Horribly offended here that Sarah gets to sleep in. I didn’t get to sleep in, neither should she. Plus, DoA’s timescale means that she’ll be sleeping in for at least the first week or two of May, which is totally unfair.

It helps that Sara has recently “gotten it”, if you know what I mean.

I’ve never been so envious of a fictional character.

The pillows? The presumably good sex? Or is it that hard to take a morning off for yourself?
Sirksome
Its only depression if you sleep in everyday. All day. And do nothing else.
Opus the Poet
Can confirm it’s true.
Runnick
It’s only depression if it comes from the Depression region, otherwise it’s just sparkly malaise.
Decidedly Orthogonal
Mine’s gone flat.
Felian
same. post excertional malaise is NOT sparkly at all unfortunately.
DailyBrad
I aspire to this level of cozy.

Pure bliss.

Especially when you’ve had the “Late for school/work nightmare” before waking up
Wizard
Nothing more relaxing than waking up to remember that you actually quit that job twenty years ago.

…except on those occasions when half an hour later you suddenly think “Nope, right the first time!”
(Just me? Okay, then.)

I SEE NO LIE HERE
StClair
a lie-in, perhaps, but that’s different.

She’s not sleeping in really. She’s just finally… FINALLY! getting to relax and feel good and loved.

She speaks the truth!

The trick is to sleep until you wake up naturally and well rested.

It’s all in the why’s, Sarah, all in the why’s.
ZombieKyrik
All in the wise? I didn’t realize you thought so highly of Sarah.
Opus the Poet
I can confirm that if you’re sleep deprived, sleeping in feels like heaven.

Yeah, depressed people do it because it’s fantastic, at least for a couple days. Starts to feel awful after too many though.

I don’t know why, when adult, I used to sleep with some pillows, specially between legs.

Helps support your spine even better if there’s an anime hottie printed on the pillow.

I like how this formulation seems to imply that you’re now no longer an adult.

Maybe I should get a few more body pillows. Cheaper than another mattress topper, with more “texture”.
EtchJetty
happy sarah comix. we see the smile 😀

If you have the privilege of sleeping in it’s truly a blessing. I love seeing Sarah genuinely happy.

She’s recharging from late night sexytimes…

but it’s barely the morning, still

I wouldn’t mind sleeping all day if I didn’t have anything else to do that day. But most days I have stuff to do.

well lack of motivation to do anything is one of the symptoms of depression
but you could also be a procrastinator lol

Hmm, yes, very wise.
chuckroast
Sarah is finally truly at peace. You love to see it.
GUIGUI
It’s not a sign of depression, it’s a sign that YOU ARE GETTING OLD!
Nymph
She’s 20, I know people try to convince women that they’re “old” incredibly early, but surely that insanity hasn’t extended to 20yo’s, right?

Sarah’s a spry and spregged young woman of but twenty summers. She can sleep a couple of extra hours without crumbling to dust from age.

I’m 32 and it hasn’t happened yet. Some people are weak and will not survive the winter.

Alright gang, this is a tough one but I know we can discourse this to at least 200 comments, I’ll start
Sleeping face down? What weird behaviour! #cancelSarahforsleepingfacedown

Even facetiously, I can’t muster up the slightest complaint about this strip. It’s just nice.

I sleep on my side, but if I’m halfway awake, and I can’t get back to sleep then I’ll rest on my front while I finish waking up.
morleuca
I have to keep moving all night or my body starts yelling at me and I get really warm and then everything aches all tbe next day
Florence
This is me, I have to keep switching until I enter a sleepier mode
Aura
I’d literally just opened this page and thought you know, it’s kind of nice seeing such a low comment count on this strip…
Florence
I believe this comment section has the power to charge a rocket ship with the right discourse

If that’s wrong, then baby I don’t wanna be right.

Dammit! Calendars, my old arch-nemesis!
… June? Do we think she’ll be out of bed by mid-June?
ZombieKyrik
Knowing this comic? Her getting out of bed might take until October.
