Better to do it now versus “fuck you guys i’m out” at an age where he’d have the money/ability to move halfway across the country and go no contact then lol
Is it opposite day? Because that is the smart play.
Decidedly Orthogonal
Agreed. Happily, I had my dad to fall back on when mom threw me away at 10 years. But I fault no child for milking their larents for every benefit they can get while growing up, nor for saying, “fuck it,” and jumping ship sooner if they need to.
ian livs
Yeah, sometimes–if you can tolerate them–you’ve gotta milk your parents for every resource they’ll give you before you jump ship. My best friend(/roommate/platonic partner/basically-sister) cut contact with her parents too early and we would’ve starved about it after she lost her job, if not for my willingness to take advantage of my parents having surplus money.
Obviously, I will never fault anyone for cutting off toxic relatives (and it’s something I’d also like to do someday) but if you can stand it, there’s no harm in taking advantage of the situation while you still can. I consider mine “emotional compensation for childhood pain and suffering,” lmao
Especially considering how much this endangers his golden boy status (which yes is actually terrible in it’s own way but comes with perks as well) this really is pretty damn ballsy of him.
And I’m guessing several hours waiting and fifteen seconds deciding what to say once he spotted them coming.
Well, except for all those things he did involving his balls with Dorothy. And Amber.
But I grant that may be a somewhat different definition of ballsy.
Miri
Also the bits where he was quipping whilst dealing with an actual “my friends and I have been kidnapped” situation.
I’d argue going to Amber and apologising for saying the bad things and making things better between them (even if it got awkward because she doesn’t really do “polite social filter” and also has destructive impulses of her own/may have thought he WAS hitting on her) was pretty ballsy…
Azhrei Vep
Considering the very real possibility that bringing the incident back up may have resulted in some level of physical violence, given Amber’s … Amberosity? Yeah, I’d call it pretty ballsy of him.
It’s understandable, albeit kind of sad, that Jennifer has more faith in Walky and seems better at predicting him than she is, but they did get more time together, and Sal and Walky mending their relationship has been relatively recent.
Still, it does kind of highlight that their issues aren’t some Good Guy, Bad Guy thing, that both of them have things to work on when it comes to being the best siblings they can be to each other.
See, I read this as them both considering all three options, and slowly going over them together; Jennifer really is completing Sal’s thoughts of “these are the things Walky might do”. The one she gets just happens to be the right one, for narrative flow reasons.
Inexplicably, Linda believes that Charles said this to her and provokes an argument to which he never bothers to actually participate in, not even denying her accusations. This is how Walky makes his parents get a divorce and adds another layer of guilt to his first year of college.
Though for real, I’m like really worried about him. I cannot see this going well.
If the past is anything to go by, Sal and Walky have switched places and now Linda will have to explain to him in patient detail that a mother simply understands these things and it has nothing to do with skin color, I just think Lucy is a bad influence on you, and Walky will either chicken out and solidify that Lucy can do better than him, or he’ll push the button really hard and Linda will without so much as a blink say some shit like she wishes he was more like Billie.
Italics tags. at the start of what you want in italics (without the space) and (without the space) to close it. You can also use for bold and for strike through.
Proxiehunter
Looks like I can’t just use the indicators with a space to have them not read by the software. Lets try this. around your words for italics. around your words for bold and around your words for strike through.
And if this works it’s to do what I did in this post to make the codes visible.
Proxiehunter
Okay if that doesn’t work what the fuck is the code tag even for?
Mendel
just use & lt ; for , without the spaces.
Mendel
just use & lt ; for < and & gt ; for > , without spaces ofc
Uly
It’s a lot faster and more efficient to tell people to google html tags for italics and bold. You don’t run into this sort of problem and they get to do a teeny tiny bit of their own problem-solving.
Proxiehunter
Looks like I failed to close the italics correctly there too. The perils of sites where you have to type html in by hand like you did in the olden days.

This works: <i>italucs</i> italics

Oooo, good for Walky! Wow, I feel bad for assuming (okay, cheering for) his acting out was going to come in the form of hooking up with someone.
Steelbright
He could still go for both…
NickG
He could be doing that right now, you can’t see what’s going on behind the car.
Loki
That could be happening ANY TIME you can’t see below a character’s waist.
Sounds like a really weird fanfiction…

I mean, it probably is the most ballsy thing he’s ever done in his life up to this point.
As for the “how long,” it’s either been at least several hours, or fifteen seconds tops.

Bittersweet
Him being Walky, of course. Charles is a bit like a maple seed or a butterfly, just kinda goes where ever the wind wings him.

I worry that he’s just going to fling accusations around, and Linda will rightfully tell him that he fucked up plenty on his own with Lucy.
